I began my love affair with yoga by falling into a leisure centre yoga class after a particularly brutal zumba session, about 15 years ago. I don't remember much about it, except the teacher had a lovely lilting voice, and showed no judgement as I tried, and failed, to touch my toes. Thanks to that lovely lady, I kept coming back to it, time and time again.
My aim is to help my clients find a sense of calm and wellbeing, in a way that is sustainable and tailored just for them. |
I hope to offer inclusive, body positive yoga, for people with bums, boobs and bellies, for the inflexible and the bendy, for anyone who has ever decided to not go to a class in case they felt they were too big, or because they were worried about not looking right. I've chosen not to go to many a yoga class because I was worried that my belly was big, or I wouldn't be able to get into a pose, or that I would be judged, which is why I want my yoga sessions to be safe, inclusive spaces.
There's a huge misconception that you're only practicing yoga if you're twisting yourself into fancy asanas. Yoga is about so much more. It's about Union, be that Mind, Body and Spirit, the Lower and Higher Self, or Yin and Yang. It's about the journey rather than the destination. It's about growth in those moments between shaking and stillness. |
If you'd be interested in a one-to-one tailored yoga session, please get in touch for prices and to discuss your yoga needs. At the moment all yoga sessions are via zoom.
VinyasaVinyasa is a flowing series of asanas (poses), which use the breath to link the movements. A Vinyasa session can flow through a variety of postures, with creative classes each filled with intention. This can be as gentle or warming as desired.
Vinyasa benefits include increased strength, stamina and balance, relaxation, calming of the mind and improvement of overall health. |
Yin
Yin Yoga has roots in both the Hatha practices of India, and the Taoist practices of China. The asanas come from Hatha whereas the Yin/Yang elements come from Taoism. The asanas in Yin are floor based and held between 3-10 minutes, with no muscle contractions.
Yin yoga is known as the yoga of the connective tissue, and is one of the best paths to increased flexibility and improved range of motion. As the poses are held for so long, and require stillness, this practice is ideal for exploring being in the present moment. |
