Reiki is an energy holistic healing system, thought to be thousands of years old with its origins in Tibetan Buddhist practice but rediscovered and developed in the 1920’s by Dr Mikao Usui.
Reiki stimulates the body’s natural healing ability and can help to support and heal on all levels; mental, physical, emotional and spiritual. It can also be used in conjunction with other complementary therapies. Reiki has come to be known as ‘Universal Life Energy’ as the word can be broken into two parts; ‘Rei’ which represents sacred, soul, spirit and gift; and ‘Ki’ which is the life force energy that flows through every living thing. |

Reiki supports and accelerates the body’s natural ability to heal and balance and during a treatment the practitioner channels the universal healing energy into the client by placing the hands gently on or just above different areas of the body. Each individual experiences Reiki differently, some of the physical responses experienced are; deep relaxation, heat and cooling sensations, tingling. Clients may also see images, colours or a release of emotions.
